Washington Post owner Jeff Bezos has reportedly given the newspaper a mandate to add more conservative voices to its opinion section — even as he remains silent over the broadsheet’s decision not to endorse a candidate in the 2024 presidential election.

Bezos — the world’s second richest person with a fortune that Bloomberg Billionaires Index valued at $211 billion as of Monday — is keen on gaining a more ideologically diverse readership by expanding his newspaper’s reach among right-leaning audiences, according to a report in The New York Times.

The Amazon founder, meanwhile, has remained silent over the non-endorsement controversy. He has not spoken publicly amid protests from high-level staffers and prominent figures such as Watergate reporters Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein.

Marty Baron, who was executive editor of the newspaper when Bezos bought the Washington Post more than a decade ago, denounced the move as an act of “cowardice.”

Washington Post staffers were reeling over Bezos’ decision to block the Harris endorsement, a draft of which was said to be all typed up and ready for publication.

The newspaper’s own reporters published an article which claimed that Bezos himself made the decision to veto the endorsement — a move that raised eyebrows since it broke with a tradition of 36 years less than two weeks before the election.

… amid protests from high-level staffers and prominent figures such as Watergate reporters Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein.

Maybe Bezos is tired of the inmates’ running of the asylum.

Bezos does NOT owe ANY explanation to ANYONE.

His newspaper, his rules.

The snowflakes acting out are ridiculous and childish. These people never grew up. They can give their notice and move on if they don't like it. For every one of them, there are 1000 people who will apply for the vacancy. It's a buyers market for liberal arts graduates.

Schadenfreude++

What's up with all the "pro-Biden" Billionaires supporting Trump.

Elon Musk.

Then Mark Zuckerberg.

Now Jeff Bezos.

At the rate it is going, he might lose all of his liberal reporters. But then again, isn’t “conservative news reporter” about as common as a unicorn?

We are past peak woke. A lot of DEI types are being fired in the corporate world (and even in Hollywood!!!!). Bezos has a newspaper in a death spiral and he isn’t stupid.

None of this means that the organizations cleaning house are going to become born again conservative, just that they are setting some limits.

The left will double down on malignant stupidity and intensify the totalitarian thuggery in the sectors they still dominate, notably academia and government. So with regard to the Woke Wars, we’re not at the beginning of the end, but rather the end of the beginning.

As someone once said ....

Bezos contacted Trump after the assassination attempt to offer well-wishes and concern. I think he’s changed a bit and is smart enough to know that the leftist media has gone beyond “way too far” and is now actively cheerleading simply for treason, chaos and destruction.

Ya, he’s gonna double the number of conservative writers. Wait, did he mean more conservative writers or more conservative writers. I could go either way on that one.

Washington Post owner Jeff Bezos in an op-ed published Monday evening defended the newspaper’s recent controversial decision not to endorse a candidate in the presidential election as a “meaningful step in the right direction” to reverse the loss of trust in the media by Americans.

But Bezos also wrote, “I wish we had made the change earlier than we did, in a moment further from the election and the emotions around it.”

The op-ed — with the headline “The hard truth: Americans don’t trust the news media — was published hours after NPR reported that The Washington Post had lost more than 200,000 digital subscribers since Friday’s announcement by CEO Will Lewis that the newspaper would no longer endorse presidential candidates.

Three members of the paper’s editorial board have resigned from that panel, while retaining their staff roles at the Post, because of that decision.

The Post ‘newsroom’ will try to pull a fast one and hire more ‘conservatives’ who hate Trump and hate 90% of his supporters.

If the Post wants real diversity (and the people at the Post do NOT want real diversity) - they need to hire someone who has supported Trump.

Hiring George Conway (who hates Trump and hates the half of Americans who support Trump) IS NOT DIVERSITY.

If Bezos becomes an active Publisher, he could save newspapers - and the profession. It’s long past time to take back decision-making from the monkeys currently running the zoo.
